Alhambra: Big Box – $99 tx inc.
Alhambra is a tile-based game designed by Dirk Henn that was developed from a card game originally self-published under db-Spiele in 1992 as Al Capone and re-published by Queen Games as Alhambra: The Card Game.
Alhambra, released by Queen Games in 2003, replaced the stocks with buildings that must be arranged according to strict placement rules if they are to count towards scoring. This combination of economic and spatial gameplay with a historical theme helped to earn the game that year’s Spiel des Jahres and it has since become Queen’s flagship title, spawning an extended family that comprises the base game, its five expansions, another older Dirk Henn game re-themed as The Gardens of the Alhambra, a dice game which shares some of its mechanics, the standalone variant Granada, the re-themed version New York and card game versions of both Alhambra and New York (which, lacking the placement rules of the tile games, are essentially Stimmt so!).
